Rain Lily, Crooked River, Tate’s Hell State Forest

P1020138

Taken 4/12/2013 on Crooked River, Tate’s Hell State Forest. Rain Lily, Zephyr Lily, or Atamasco Lily. Crooked River connects the Ochlocknee on the East of Tate’s Hell and the Carrabelle River. There are primitive campsites located on this river and campsites 1 and 2 are available all year round and are in a no hunting area. The paddle from one end to the other may require an overnight camp over, for all but the fastest of paddlers. Tides are influenced from both ends: Ochlocknee Bay and Carrabelle Bay, and the river is wide enough to be affected by wind. This is part of Florida’s Designated Circumnavigational Paddling Trail.
